Welcome to my little cutie Sugar Glider. I really wanted to add them to my Australian Series as they are just so adorable and very possum like. These guys have only 4 fingers / toes and the biggest eyes possible for their tiny little heads.
Are you ready for the Fun Facts time!
The Sugar Glider is found in Northern and Eastern Australia, including Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and south-eastern South Australia. They got their name "Sugar Gliders" because they like to eat almost anything that is sweet, especially fresh fruit & vegetables, and they have a gliding membrane (similar to a flying squirrel) that stretches from their wrist to their ankles, allowing them to glide - not fly - from tree to tree. They can glide over 150 feet and can survive up to 9 years in the wild.
They live in a nest with 7-9 other gliders and it only requires 16 to 20 days for a baby to be born😲(is this really true?!!!)
There you go!!!! I especially loved drawing the eyes for this one, I love how big and dark they are.
Hand drawn with just lead pencil, watercolours and gouache paints.
