Botanic Rosella
Botanic Rosella
In 1895 Two friends started a backyard business selling fruit preserves and sauces. They named it Rosella, inspired by its exceptional ability to choose only the freshest fruit. This decision paid off, as Australians quickly fell in love with their products.
By 1931 The Adelaide Mail reported that the Rosella Preserving Company had more than 1000 employees. The company has since been sold a few times now, but the last sale was to a private family company, Sabrands Australia.
I chose to draw the orange "Giant candle" banksias as it grows out the front of my mum and dads house, the "Coast banksia" grows across the road from my house.
And Bottlebrush reminds me of the last two houses we have lived in. The Eastern Rosella are parrots and found throughout south-eastern Australia.
Giant Candles - Banksia ericifolia x spinulosa
Coast Banksia - Banksia integrifolia
Bottlebrush - Callistemon
I created this artwork by using watercolours and gouache paints.
